HURSTBOURNE HURRICANES

Parent volunteers:  The success and survival of our team is highly dependent upon the involvement of our parents. Parent volunteers provide much needed services at meets and coordinate committee events to support our team. Please sign up to volunteer!!!

We need you to make our team a success!! Below are a list of volunteer duties that we need your  help with! Please sign up for these events in the Signup Calendar.  You can sign up for meets and to volunteer today! Don't wait. 

Certified stroke and turn official (home and away meets)

• Volunteer needs to be familiar with the different swimming strokes. We need 2 officials for each meet.

Certified computer scorer: (home meets)

• During the meets this person inputs meet results into the computer, this shift starts before the meet starts and ends after the meet ends. We need at least 2 volunteers willing to learn this position.

Starters (home meets) - The starter will start each event during the swim meet.  

Timers: 6-8 per meet (home and away)

• 2 timers sit at the end of the lanes and time the races with a stopwatch. They check the swimmers name against the swimmer on the sheet provided and write down the swimmer’s time in that event.

Place judges: 2 per meet (home and away):

• Place judges sit at the finish of the races and write the order that each lane finished in. They are there in case there is a dispute about the timers’ times.

Age group parent/clerk of course:

• This is an important and fun job!!! 2-3 volunteers are needed in each gender and age group for each meet. Age group parents are expected to keep their age group together, line the swimmers from their age group up for their events, take them to the start of their race and make sure they start their race in the correct lane at the correct time. This person will be provided with an attendance sheet at the beginning of each meet that has all the swimmer’s names and the events that they are in that night. Many find it helpful to write the swimmers name on their back and the events that they are in on their arm in permanent marker. They’ll check in all of their swimmers in and report to the coach if a swimmer does not show.

Team pictures “parent photographers”:

• Take pictures of the kids at the meet and after party cook out at hurstbourne –please send all photos to HCC Swim Team so we can use for end of year collage and any swim team fun events (can be your kid, kids relays or the kids just hanging out!)

Social Saturdays:

• Each Saturday practice we would like to do donuts, tattoos, make posters for Sunday meets . Parents are encouraged to sign up to bring goodies –please sign up so we know how to plan for fun!!
